About the Instructor

Hi, I’m Kathryn — flower grower, educator, and the heart behind Sunny Hill Flower Farm.

For years, I’ve been growing, arranging, and working with flowers in a way that’s both practical and deeply meaningful. What began as a love for beauty and creativity has grown into a full-fledged farm, a community gathering place, and a way to teach others how to work with flowers confidently and intentionally.

I’ve spent countless seasons learning what actually works—from harvesting and arranging to problem-solving when flowers don’t cooperate. Along the way, I’ve taught workshops, hosted events, and helped everyday people discover that you don’t need formal training or fancy tools to create something beautiful.

My passion is helping others slow down, work with their hands, and gain confidence through simple, practical floral design. Whether you’re arranging flowers from your garden, creating something for your home, or dreaming of turning creativity into something more, I believe anyone can learn these skills.

This course was created to pass on what I’ve learned—honestly, simply, and with encouragement—so you can create with confidence and joy.

Flower Farm Internship Applications Are Open for 2026
Over on the radio at KLT in Lockhart, Len Gabbey was already sharing the news. Weeks ago, he announced something that wasn’t even public yet… 🌼 2026 Flower Farm Internships are OPEN. 🌼 Yep—it’s official. And for the first time, I’ve opened applications up wider than ever before. You know that person… Your daughter, a friend, a sibling, maybe an FFA student—someone in a college or ag program who keeps saying, “I just need a farm to get my credits.” This internship is honestly packed with...

Why Listening to Too Many Voices Held My Flower Farm Back
Truthfully, when I first started the farm, I ran through growing techniques and business ideas faster than a greyhound at a dog race—always chasing the next thing that promised faster growth or better results. We live in a world overflowing with information. Every business owner, farmer, and hydro-tech has a mastermind, a podcast, a course. And for dreamers, that constant stream of advice can quietly become the biggest dream-killer there is. Now—I do believe we’re called to be excellent at...

How to Trellis Sweet Peas (A Low, Cold-Friendly Setup That Actually Works)
I trained them to climb Mount Everest… LOL. Okay, not really—but this past week I did  re-trellis the sweet peas. This is my second year successfully growing sweet peas without  the seeds rotting in the trays. I can still take myself straight back to 2022—hovering over seed trays like a dog waiting for a bone, desperate for that first little green leaf to appear… only to find a sad mush of rotten seeds instead. 😩 Praise the Lord for discovering cold stratification . Game changer. 👉  Click...
