Eliminate Grasshoppers

ree

Who else has plants that are suffering from grasshoppers???

To be sure you are not alone, dear flower friend.

Here are my hacks for getting rid of these nasty insects!

Liquid Garlic: I buy this in bulk online and dilute it in a pump sprayer. I then spray it all over the garden. They hate the smell of this stuff.

Pure Crop 1: This is a heavier chemical. I actually don't use it anymore, but I did for a few years when I just got started. This is also something you can order online and dilute in a pump sprayer.

ECO BRAN: This is a guaranteed product that I spread by hand. The product almost looks like wood shavings, and I have found it to work really well.

Long grass: Another technique is to leave the edges of your garden tall with grass and old dying plants from the spring season. Grasshoppers love tall green plants to keep them occupied.

Hay: With my new seedlings, I lay a light layer of hay on top so the grasshoppers can't see the green beauties poking out of the ground. It sounds funny, but it works!

There is a technique that I have seen using Organza bags, and you place them over each bloom to keep them from being damaged, but this is time-consuming. And also, the grasshoppers can still chew through the stem of the plant, which is awful.

So this is my alternative route.

Plant: So, depending on your budget for the garden. One way to make sure you will have beautiful blooms to harvest from the garden is to........Plant tons of flowers, raising the likelihood of actually having beautiful flowers that are unchewed by grasshoppers.
