We just had my mom's birthday!!!!
Always love celebrating her............
But.....I did something I have never done before!
And that is to decorate her cake with flowers..................
I can't believe I have never done this. But it was so simple and easy that I just had to share.
First off, I made a raspberry Lemon cake that just radiated springtime.
I made a lemon butter cream frosting and coated the entire cake.
I then went to the garden and harvested cosmos and zinnias, and a few roses. Placed them directly in water to hydrate them. I also cut them fairly short since I wouldn't need much stem length for this task.
I then cut the stems down to 1/4 inch and push them into the icing. The cosmos stems are soft, so I just made a little hole and slid them in.
I then placed the cake back in the fridge until ready to serve....just so the flowers wouldn't wilt.
And how gorgeous was this....Just perfect for a garden party setting!
Your flower farmer.
