From the archives of stories…
The Hobbit.
Harry Potter.
The Godfather.
Stories take all shapes and forms—in books, in movies, in the lines of a song, and even in the way we decorate a room.
Can you remember… what was your favorite book or movie as a five-year-old child?
One of mine was a movie called Scamper the Penguin—actually a very scary movie, if I’m honest.
And I loved two books: one called Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar? and another about a family of ducks searching for a home.
I can’t tell you, from my five-year-old perspective, exactly why those were my favorites or why I reached for them again and again.
But I can tell you this: Those stories made me feel something.
And especially the books—many of them were gifts.
A gift has a kind of weight to it. Sometimes the simplest things carry the most goodness and gratitude because they were given with love.
I still laugh remembering the year my parents gave me a huge cardboard box for my birthday… and it was my dream gift. It sounds silly now, but at the time it meant everything.
And that is what I hope All in the Flower Fields can be—A meaningful gift.
A book for upcoming baby showers, birthdays, daughters, and granddaughters. A story for mothers who want a slower, more beautiful childhood for their little ones.
And a book for children who love nature, flowers, and farm life.
Warmly,
Kathryn
