A Children’s Book Born from the Flower Fields

I sat snuggled up with three squirming, giggly children in our cozy, warm home around Christmas.
As we turned each page, bright, colorful photos appeared, and we laughed together at a funny story about a duck trying to hit an ant with a hammer.
It’s the warmth of little bodies huddled next to you, a blanket stretched across your legs, and the quiet joy of reading together that makes moments like these so special.
These are the places where the groundwork for big dreams begins. This is where imaginations ignite—where a child begins to picture a future in colors and stories, visiting places they’ve never been and doing things they never imagined before opening that little book.
I have many nieces and nephews, and after turning the pages of countless books with them, I realized there was a need—a need for stories about real life, real people, and meaningful work. With the rise of flower farming, I was surprised to find there were so few fun children’s books about life on a flower farm.
So I decided to write one.
It’s called All in the Flower Fields.
I used photographs I’ve taken over the past five years of farming and paired them with relaxed, watercolor-style artwork designed to feel gentle and calming for little ones.
And each book is truly made with care—printed and bound right here on our farm.
My hope is that you’ll enjoy these moments huddled on the couch with your little ones, turning the pages together and stepping, in your imagination, from the quiet of winter into the lush beauty of spring.
Warmly
Kathryn Sunny Hill Flower Farm
