Why Listening to Too Many Voices Held My Flower Farm Back

Flower farmer

Truthfully, when I first started the farm, I ran through growing techniques and business ideas faster than a greyhound at a dog race—always chasing the next thing that promised faster growth or better results.

We live in a world overflowing with information. Every business owner, farmer, and hydro-tech has a mastermind, a podcast, a course. And for dreamers, that constant stream of advice can quietly become the biggest dream-killer there is.

Now—I do believe we’re called to be excellent at our craft. We should learn from the best. We should listen, stay teachable, and seek wisdom so we can make good decisions.

But that’s the key: good decisions.

Not listening to everyone—but listening to the right people for what you’re actually trying to do.

I can clearly see now that much of my distraction came from immaturity. I’d hear a podcast and think, “Oooo—this is what I should do next!” When in reality, it often had nothing to do with my real goal.

And my real goal has always been to serve you.

I’m not done making silly choices or wandering down rabbit trails (I’m still a baby rabbit myself—LOL). But with information flying at us all day, every day, here’s how I am planning on learning to

separate the real vitamins from the hard lumps of info beef hitting me nonstop:

Does this person actually know what they’re talking about?

Does this apply to my daily life and current goals?

Is this information moving me closer to where I want to go—or pulling me away?

A few things I’ve loved reading and listening to lately:

Atomic Habits by James Clear

Profitable Farming by Lennie

Courses by Lisa Mason Ziegler

Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss

I’d genuinely love to hear how you sift through information overload. If you’ve found a method that helps you stay focused and grounded, share it below—I need all the help I can get. 😊

With so much love, Your flower farmer, Kathryn 🌸
